ĀĢ²čÖ±²„ Atlantic University alumna Emiliana Molina recently received the Deborah Orin Scholarship from the White House Correspondentsā€™ Association. Molina, a 2013 graduate of FAUā€™s School of Communication and Multimedia Studies within the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, accepted the award at the White House Correspondentsā€™ Dinner where she met U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

ā€œIt was such an adrenaline rush to be able to chat with them for a couple minutes,ā€ said Molina. ā€œI also got to hang out with celebrities like Rachel McAdams, Will Smith and Kerry Washington.ā€

Molina, a native of Medellin, Colombia, is currently pursuing a masterā€™s degree at Northwestern Universityā€™s Medill School of Journalism. As a Medill reporter, she covered the Iowa caucuses and various presidential candidates. Her career goal is to become a political reporter.

While at FAU, Molina interned for NBC Universal/Telemundo 51 and worked at iHeartMedia. She also served as news director of the student-run television station, Owl TV.

ā€œI was able to produce news shows, report from the field, and manage a team of volunteer reporters,ā€ she said. ā€œOWL TV gave me a hands-on learning experience, and spurred my passion for journalism.ā€
