FAU Alumna Honored at White House Correspondents' Dinner

ĀĢ²čÖ±²„ Atlantic University alumna Emiliana Molina recently received the Deborah Orin Scholarship from the White House Correspondentsā Association. Molina, a 2013 graduate of FAUās School of Communication and Multimedia Studies within the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, accepted the award at the White House Correspondentsā Dinner where she met U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
āIt was such an adrenaline rush to be able to chat with them for a couple minutes,ā said Molina. āI also got to hang out with celebrities like Rachel McAdams, Will Smith and Kerry Washington.ā
Molina, a native of Medellin, Colombia, is currently pursuing a masterās degree at Northwestern Universityās Medill School of Journalism. As a Medill reporter, she covered the Iowa caucuses and various presidential candidates. Her career goal is to become a political reporter.
While at FAU, Molina interned for NBC Universal/Telemundo 51 and worked at iHeartMedia. She also served as news director of the student-run television station, Owl TV.
āI was able to produce news shows, report from the field, and manage a team of volunteer reporters,ā she said. āOWL TV gave me a hands-on learning experience, and spurred my passion for journalism.ā
